About Loans Victoria

Loans Victoria explains payday and installment borrowing for people who earn their pay in Greater Victoria, from the ministry offices around the legislature to the framing crews in Langford. Every page carries the BC figures that decide a loan: $14 per $100 as the most a payday loan can cost, one payment on your next payday, cancellation to the end of the second business day after the advance. Nothing is lent on this site, and reading it costs you nothing, ever.

What this site is

Loans Victoria is a small library of pages on the two loans local borrowers meet online, payday and installment, with one apply link that reaches licensed BC lenders. A payday loan here runs $100 to $1500, costs at most $14 per $100 and leaves your account in a single payment on your next payday, never more than 62 days away. An installment loan runs $500 to $10000 and repays monthly over 3 to 60 months at 18% to 35% APR.

Which one fits usually follows the pay calendar. A hydro bill landing three days ahead of a biweekly Island Health deposit is a one paycheque problem. A furnace failing in a Fernwood heritage suite, or the thin stretch a hotel housekeeper faces between November and February after the last cruise ship leaves Ogden Point, runs past a single pay period and belongs on the installment side.

How the site earns money

A referral fee from a lender is the site's entire income, paid only when a loan that started at our apply link actually funds. The borrower never pays it and never sees it, and it cannot raise a price the law already caps at $14 per $100 or 35% APR. A declined application earns nothing, and so does a loan cancelled inside BC's cancellation window. The referral disclosure spells out every detail.

About Loans Victoria, Victoria

Who runs it

Loans Victoria belongs to an independent Canadian publisher that operates a small number of local loan guides. The Loans Victoria Editorial Team writes and checks every page; nobody on it lends, brokers or advises, and no lender sees a page before it is published. The sources are Part 6.1 of the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act, the Payday Loans Regulation, what Consumer Protection BC publishes and the federal Criminal Interest Rate Regulations. The site carries no reviews, no ratings and no testimonials.

What we hold ourselves to

A page goes live only after it passes this list.

  • Every cost is quoted at the legal ceiling: $14 per $100 on a payday loan, $1500 and 62 days as the BC limits, 50% of net pay as the most a lender may advance for the period, 35% APR as the federal top for installment lending.
  • Repayment is described the BC way: one payment on the next payday, with no talk of an extended payment plan, because BC law does not create one.
  • Approval is called what it is, a lender's decision read from your employment deposits, never a promise.
  • The statute's protections are listed as it writes them: a Consumer Protection BC licence for every lender, online lenders included; cancellation at no cost to the end of the second day the lender is open for business after the first advance; no rollovers; age of majority 19.
  • Greater Victoria appears as it really pays: biweekly deposits from the ministries, the base and the two hospitals, cruise season wages that stop in October, trades invoices that stall in the winter rain, and student suites in Gordon Head that empty every April.
  • Every stated rule links to the statute or the regulator, so nothing rests on our word alone.

What we are not

Loans Victoria is not a lender and holds no licence from Consumer Protection BC, because licences attach to lenders, not to publications. No page here asks for a bank login, a pay stub or a piece of identification; all of that happens on the application platform behind the apply button, where each participating lender carries its own BC licence. Consumer Protection BC lists what a licensed lender owes you and takes the complaint when one falls short.

There is no Loans Victoria office downtown or anywhere else, and no phone line. The whole process fits on a phone, on the 95 RapidBus somewhere between Langford and Douglas Street, on the Swartz Bay ferry deck or at a kitchen table in Esquimalt. Reach us through the contact page, read the four steps on how it works, and let the FAQ take the rest.

How Loans Victoria makes money: loansvictoria.ca is a free loan connection service, not a lender. When you apply, we match your application with licensed Canadian lenders and earn a referral fee from the lender if your loan funds. This never changes your rate or costs you anything. We do not make credit decisions and never charge borrowers. The lender sets and discloses the cost before you sign; payday fees are capped by provincial law and installment loans run 18% to 35% APR. All lending is subject to lender approval and provincial rules.
